Former Friends of the Library President Hathia Hayes (third from the right) participates in the groundbreaking for the Pine Valley Library. FOL was invited to participate in this event after donating $50,000 toward the building of the new library.
The Friends of the Library provided support for the Story Park in front of the Main Library and is proud of the green space it provides downtown. FOL is currently investigating the possibility of supporting the Story Park and the Story Walks in Carolina Beach, Longleaf Park, and Ogden Park by purchasing additional stories for display.
Each year the FOL provides approximately $5,000 to library staff as professional development grants called LEAD Awards. Pictured here is Jamie Schrum, a recent LEAD Award recipient, sharing her learning about library design and maker spaces with FOL members at the Annual Meeting.
