ANNUAL MEETING
NOV. 6, 2009

President Anne Langan called the meeting to order
at 7:05 pm. She recognized and thanked the library staff for their constant service, the book sale committee for a successful
year, the board for their work this year, and Ruth Brown, Ruth Ann Southworth, and Pam Miller for the evening's refreshments.
She also remarked on the significant role that the library plays in these times of recession.
Treasurer's Report: Janet Bailey presented a list of programs paid for by the Friends
of the Library in 2009. She reported that currently dues and book sale revenues pay for nearly 20 per cent of the new
books the library buys. Membership at the start of the meeting totaled 613. Amy Burt was thanked for her work
as chair of the membership committee. Janet asked for a volunteer to help with the implementation of the computer program
Quick Books.
Book Sale: Anne noted that the book sales in 2009 were the most successful ever. She thanked
Rita and Tom Lewis and Dennis Fuller for leading the sales the last few years. New chair people are needed for the spring
and fall 2010 sales.
Anne recognized outgoing
board members Amy Burt, Dennis Fuller, Carolyn Jackson, Rita Lewis, and Shannon Maus.
Nominating Committee: Carolyn Jackson presented a slate
of eight candidates for board membership: new members Kim Baggett, Margery George, Marilyn McConnell, Daryl Rosenbaum, Sandy
Secore, and returning members Larry Ankrom, Ruth Brown, and Anne Langan. It was moved and seconded to accept this slate.
The motion passed unanimously.
The slate for 2010 officers was presented and approved
by a unanimous vote: Anne Langan, president; Joan Barzeev, vice-president; Richard Salwitz, secretary; and Janet Bailey, treasurer.
The guest speaker was Celia Rivenbark. She
read from several of her entertaining books and then answered questions from the members. The Friends of the Library
presented Ms. Rivenbark with a complimentary family membership.
The meeting adjourned for refreshments at 8:15.
